چکیده

Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) has emerged as a backbone for high-speed broadband communications networks. In this paper we present ATM switch design starting from a parametric high-level model, validating the model using a combination of formal veriication and simulation. We used a combination of theorem proving and model checking to discover bugs in the high-level model that was presumed correct using simulation. Parametric design validation obviates the need to validate speciic ATM switch designs derived from the parametric model.

Design and simulation of a RF MEMS shunt capacitive switch with low actuation voltage, low loss and high isolation

According to contact type, RF MEMS switches are generally classified into two categories: Capacitive switches and Metal-to-Metal ones. The capacitive switches are capable to tolerate a higher frequency range and more power than M-to-M switches. This paper presents a cantilever shunt capacitive RF MEMS switch with characteristics such as low trigger voltage, high capacitive ratio, short switchin...

A Case Study on Model Checking and Refinement of Abstract State Machines

State Machines (ASMs) [6] are used for specifying wide ranges of applications in a high abstraction level. ASMs bring together specification methods and computational models. Thus, they are a successful methodology for validating and verifying any system. On the other hand, model checking [4] has been proven to be a valuable approach for automatic formal verification. In spite of the successful...

Formal Verification of an ATM Switch Fabric using Multiway Decision Graphs

In this paper we present our results on formally verifying the implementation of an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network switching fabric using a new class of decision graphs, called Multiway Decision Graphs (MDG). The design we consider is in use for real applications in the Cambridge Fairisle network. We produced the description of the hardware implementation at different levels of abstra...

Verification of an ATM Switch Fabric using Multiway Decision Graphs

Abstract. We present our results on formally verifying the implementation of an ATM switch fabric. The verification is performed automatically at the Register-Transfer level using a new class of decision graphs called Multiway Decision Graphs (MDGs). We performed the verification of the RTL description against its gate-level implementation and also the checking of specific properties that chara...

Q-Factor-Based Level Design for Photonic ATM Switches∗

A photonic ATM switch based on wavelengthdivision multiplexing will include several lossy passive devices, erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, and semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) in a cascade configuration for fast switching of ns order. Its level diagram, which is very different from those of optical transmission links, has not been adequately studied. This paper investigates the concept of...
